This is not your typical nutrition counseling. Working with an anti-diet dietitian means not working towards weight loss but towards overall health (what your weight does is only a side effect of the behavioral changes you make).
Weight inclusive counseling means your weight will never be associated with your health and you will not be asked to lose weight in order to gain health. You will be treated as the expert on your body.
What our nutrition counseling sessions look like:
In your first session, we review your medical history, your current eating and movement patterns, any disordered eating behaviors, and set up your health goals. Then we devise a plan to get you there!
In follow up sessions, I teach you the principles of Intuitive Eating and how to take care of your body, as well as provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for your specific disease(s) if desired. It is possible to improve chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and gastrointestinal issues, without weight loss!
Weight inclusive counseling is for everyone but you may especially benefit if you:
- Have disordered eating
- Binge eat
- Have disordered body image
- Want to eat healthfully without food cravings
- You feeling guilty about what or how much you choose to eat
