Weight Inclusive Nutrition Counseling

~Brandy accepts patients who reside in Washington, Oregon, and California~

This is not your typical nutrition counseling. Working with an anti-diet dietitian means not working towards weight loss, but towards overall health (what your weight does is only a side effect of the behavioral changes you make).

Weight inclusive counseling means your weight will never be associated with your health and you will not be asked to lose weight in order to gain health. You will be treated as the expert on your body.

What our nutrition counseling sessions look like:

In your first session, we review your medical history, your current eating and movement patterns, any disordered eating behaviors, and set up your health goals.

In follow up sessions, we’ll work on what’s important to you which may include things like:

  • How to rediscover your hunger and fullness cues
  • Practicing body respect
  • Reducing behaviors of restriction, purging, or bingeing
  • Cultivating a healthier relationship with exercise
  • Learning to eat for your specific diagnoses (eg. diabetes, PCOS, gastrointestinal issues, etc)

Weight inclusive counseling is for everyone, but you may especially benefit from working with Brandy if you struggle with:

  • an eating disorder such as binge eating, anorexia, atypical anorexia, bulimia, OSFED, or ARFID
  • disordered eating patterns
  • body image disturbance
  • feeling guilty about what or how much you choose to eat
